One of the biggest questions we always get asked is how we feel so confident showing our love for the Lord as part of our branding. kAITLIN SHARES THAT IT HAS AND HASN’T BEEN EASY TO RUN A FAITH-BASED BUSINESS—THERE IS A LOT OF ANXIETY AROUND NAVIGATING HOW PEOPLE WILL REACT TO YOUR BUSINESS BEING FAITH-BASED. INITIALLY, KAITLIN CHOSE TO LITTLe BY LITTLE TALK ABOUT JESUS IN HER BUSINESS AND SLOWLY, AS HER BUSINESS EVOLVED, SO DID HER ABILITY TO WEAVE JESUS INTO HER BUSINESS IN A WAY THAT IS BOTH CONSIDERATE AND APPROPRIATE.
MADDIE TALKS ABOUT HOW HER PASSION FROM THE VERY BEGINNING HAS BEEN TO START A MINISTRY-MINDED BUSINESS, BUT THAT DOES NOT MEAN THAT SHE HAS NOT DOUBTED IMPLEMENTING IT SO STRONGLY BECAUSE SHE DOES NOT WANT TO HURT ANYONE’S FEELINGS BY SHOWING UP AS WHO SHE IS.
mADDIE AND KAIT BOTH STATE THAT YOU ARE YOUR BRAND— BUILD YOUR BUSINESS AROUND WHO YOU ARE. BUT, ASIDE FROM THAT, MADDIE AND KAIT ALWAYS WANT PEOPLE TO FEEL LIKE THEIR IS A SEAT AT THEIR TABLE, EVEN IF YOU AREN’T A CHRIST FOLLOWER.
cOME AS YOU ARE AND YOU WILL BE WELCOMED WITH OPEN ARMS.
mADDIE SHARES THAT SHE USED TO DREAD HAVING CONVERSATIONS WITH PEOPLE ABOUT WHY CLIENTS DON’T FIT HER BRAND OR VISA VERSA FOR THE CLIENT, EVEN IF IT DIDN’T HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH FAITH. BUT NOW, SHE WELCOMES THOSE CONVERSATIONS BECAUSE SHE HAS LEARNED THAT SHE CAN STILL LOVE THE PEOPLE EVEN IF THEY DO NOT BOOK WITH HER.
KAITLIN THEN SHARES THAT THERE ARE STILL INSTANCES IN HER LIFE AND BUSINESS WHERE SHE GETS FRUSTRATED AND KNOWS THAT HER FLESH IS TAKING OVER AND SHE IS NOT SHOWING JESUS TO PEOPLE, SO SHE HAS TO BACK TRACK AND ALLOW JESUS TO TAKE OVER. IN THIS WAY, RUNNING A FAITH-BASED BUSINESS IS DIFFICULT BECAUSE YOU ARE ALWAYS REFLECTING CHRIST AND CANNOT JUST RESPOND WITH YOUR INITIAL EMOTIONS—YOUR HUMAN EMOTIONS THAT ARE APART FROM GOD.
RUNNING A FAITH-BASED BUSINESS IS ALWAYS HARD, THERE ARE CONSTANTLY OBSTACLES BUT RUNNING A FAITH-BASED BUSINESS HOLDS YOU ACCOUNTABLE FOR YOUR OWN FAITH IN YOUR PERSONAL LIFE AS WELL.
KAITLIN THEN SHIFTS THE CONVERSATION TO TANGIBLE WAYS THAT LISTENERS CAN INTEGRATE FAITH, OR JUST LOVE, INTO YOUR OWN BUSINESS.
Be open on social media/your website—any place that someone could get an initial introduction to you, make sure it is evident that you love your clients, let the love of jesus shine through your platforms because that sets you apart regardless of your work.
provide a space for people to let you know how you could be praying for them—maddie has a prayer box on her website as a safe space for people to tell her she needs prayer.
Provide a space that people can just chat with you, even if they don’t need prayer.
send a note after a client books with you—kaitlin sends a letter when a client books with her and always writes at the end that she is praying for the person and she prays over clients up until their wedding day.
show up on your stories and don’t be afraid.
Put it in your captions on social media. put it on your stories. take what the lord is giving you as an outlet, take it, and run with it.
