038 : Living a Restful, Peaceful, Present Life in Jesus
Living a Restful, Peaceful, Present Life in Jesus
In this episode of The Refined Sisterhood podcast, Kait and I dive deep into what it truly means to live a restful, peaceful, and present life in Jesus. In today’s world, it’s easy to get caught up in the chaos of busy schedules, endless to-do lists, and the pressure to always be on the go. But Jesus calls us to something different—something deeper. He offers us a life of peace, rest, and presence in Him, no matter what’s happening around us.
The Call to Rest
One of the most powerful things we talk about in this episode is the importance of rest. But not just physical rest—spiritual rest. Jesus invites us to come to Him when we’re weary and burdened, promising that He will give us rest (Matthew 11:28). This isn’t just about taking a break from work or chores, but about finding deep soul rest in His presence. We can rest in the fact that God is in control and that we don’t have to carry all the weight of life on our own.
When we prioritize time with Jesus, we allow Him to replenish our souls, refresh our spirits, and restore our peace. Rest is a gift that God has given us, and it’s one we must intentionally embrace to live a life of peace.
Finding Peace in Jesus
Peace is another key theme we explore in this episode. In a world full of anxiety and stress, peace can often seem elusive. But Jesus offers us peace that the world cannot give (John 14:27). This peace isn’t dependent on our circumstances, but on our relationship with Him. When we center our lives on Jesus and trust in His goodness, peace floods our hearts.
We talk about how we can cultivate peace in our daily lives by focusing on the things that matter most—our relationship with Jesus, loving others, and living out our purpose. The peace that comes from God guards our hearts and minds, even in the midst of challenges.
Living in the Present Moment
So often, we get caught up in worrying about the future or regretting the past. But living in the present moment is a key part of living a peaceful and restful life in Jesus. We need to embrace the now, trust that God is with us in this moment, and know that He is working everything out for our good (Romans 8:28).
Kait and I share how we’ve learned to slow down, enjoy the little things, and be fully present with our families, our friends, and with God. Being present isn’t just about putting down our phones or multitasking less; it’s about being fully engaged in the here and now, embracing the moments God has given us.
Practical Steps to Living a Restful, Peaceful, Present Life
Make Time for Daily Quiet Time: Set aside intentional time each day to spend with God. This could be through prayer, Bible reading, or simply sitting in silence, allowing God to speak to your heart.
Practice Mindfulness: Be aware of the present moment. Whether you’re taking a walk, playing with your kids, or having a conversation with a friend, focus on being fully engaged in that moment without distractions.
Let Go of Control: Recognize that you don’t have to control everything. Surrender your worries to God and trust that He’s got everything in His hands. Rest in His sovereignty.
Simplify Your Schedule: Evaluate your commitments and make space for rest. If you’re constantly running from one thing to the next, you’re not living the peaceful life God has called you to. Learn to say no when necessary and prioritize what really matters.
Practice Gratitude: Gratitude is a powerful tool for cultivating peace. When we focus on the blessings God has given us, we shift our mindset from stress and anxiety to contentment and joy.
Living in the Peace of Jesus
Ultimately, living a restful, peaceful, present life in Jesus is about surrendering to Him, trusting Him with every area of our lives, and finding our peace in His presence. When we focus on Jesus, we can experience His rest and peace, no matter what circumstances we face. We can be present with those around us, fully engaged in the moments He’s given us, and live with the peace that only He can provide.
Closing Thoughts
Life can be chaotic, but Jesus offers us rest, peace, and presence. By prioritizing time with Him, letting go of control, and being fully present in the moment, we can experience a life that’s grounded in peace. Don’t let the hustle and bustle of life steal your peace—embrace the rest and peace that Jesus offers, and live fully in His presence.
