5 Reasons to Start Journaling

Ever wondered why you should journal?

We have made it a priority to journal as often as our hearts desire. But it hasn’t always been that way, at least for me (Kaitlin)! I used to want to do itand was even told I should. But I never understand the real reason WHY.

There are a multitude of different reasons why someone may not want to do this in the first place. You don’t understand it, you think it’s a waste of time, you have no clue how, you don’t know what you would even write about. Trust me, a lot of these crossed my mind.

So let’s go ahead and break down those hesitations, and I’ll share the reasons WHY you absolutely start journaling:

👉🏼You can take your thoughts captive. Have you ever had thoughts literally eating at you and you couldn’t shake them? Taking out your journal and writing them down on paper can help you to get them out of you’re head and allow you to determine how to deal with that thought.

👉🏼 You can empty your mind of all the junk. AKA, a brain dump. Instead of going to bed thinking about the 10000 things you have to do, write them down so they don’t cause major brain fog.

👉🏼 You can clearly see where you are struggling. “The first step is admitting you have a problem.” You’ve heard that, right? Once you’ve written down your thoughts and read them, they can show you where you need healing and what you need to pray about.

👉🏼You can look back and reflect. It’s incredible to look back on things you’ve written and see how the Lord worked through things in your life, seeing his provision and his faithfulness.

👉🏼 Because you and your mental health are WORTH it. We truly believe that journaling can keep us in a healthy mental state, just by not allowing our thoughts to run wild.

Those are just some benefits that come with journaling, although we could give you a million more reasons why you should. Whether prompted or just freely dumping out your brain, it’s so worth it.
