023 : Productive Hacks to a Peaceful and Enjoyable Life
Intro - Preparing for a good day the night before - Actions you can take to set your week up for success
In this episode, we sit down and have a real life, hot mess chat with you. As two mom-entrepreneurs just trying to survive, Maddie and Kait share their struggle with routines in the chaos of a very busy season. Both feel passionate about being productive in tiny ways, but have recently fallen short with all that life has thrown at them. It’s time to get back to the nitty gritty of living a peaceful, enjoyable life that serves them well and keeps their cup-filled. So, the two share their thoughts on forming good habits and share their tips on jumping back into solid routines that truly make a difference in their everyday life, mentally and physically. If you’re ready to make your own life a little easier, this episode is for you!
Galatians 5:1 “It is for freedom that Christ set us free.”
We all want more rhythm in our life. We love morning routines, workout routines, skin care routines. Etc.
Wanting to create peace in our homes.
Topic 1 - Give a run down of your week. Basically show how life is just crazy and sometimes it can feel out of control if we let it.
Constantly doing something. Chasing a baby around, cleaning up messes, cooking dinner, running errands, schedules, work, laundry, etc. (Just so much going on)
Topic 2 - We have learned that we would rather start our day on the offense instead of the defense.
We do this by being intentional with the actions we take the evening before that is going to set the direction for our morning.
We strive to create peace in our homes. And that comes from being intentional in the afternoons/evening.
In Exodus 14:14 it says “The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” The Lord calls us to live a life of stillness.
How are we supposed to be still and rest if we are constantly running around trying to get things done? We must allow the space in our life to practice intentionality and now just rush to the next day to do it all over again.
Topic 3 - Talk about some things we have done to be in the offense in starting a new week.
Sunday afternoon Routine:
Grocery Delivery/Shop
Meal Prep
Clean House
Send quality time with family
Wash and fold all laundry
Make sure all dishes are washed and put away
What are some ways you can maintain that peace throughout the week?
Morning Routine - Starting with what fills your cup
Drinking an iced coffee and a glass of water, starting my diffuser, starting a load of laundry, turning on worship music, turning on roomba, and spending time with Jesus.
During the day - Constantly not telling myself that things can wait. “I can wait to clean that mess up. I don’t have to worry about cleaning up lunch until later. Then later rolls around and I’m so overwhelmed.
30 Minute Timer
Nighttime Routine - Make sure everything is in its right place, clean up Keegans toys, get everything set and ready for the next day, Reset our house. Run roomba and start the dishwasher.
Closing - We have been where you might be, feeling like something needs to change, feeling like you have a million things to get done and now one of them is getting done. We get it and we are still navigating how to be more intentional in our week. But by implementing these things into our Sunday evening, it has allowed us to experience more grace, rest, and peace during our week. We encourage you to start by implementing one of these things into your life and start to see how things change for the better. We’re cheering you on!
