003 : Get to Know Kaitlin!!
003. gET TO KNOW KAITLIN!
In this episode, we get to know our co-host, Kaitlin! We learn a little bit about who she is and what got her to where she is right now, in this particular season of life. Kaitlin is a Business Owner and Wedding Photographer who recently became a mom to a sweet baby boy. She talks a lot about her college years, the dreams that were put on her heart, how she moved into wedding photography and quit her full-time marketing job, how she has grown in Christ, and what it is now like being a mom and business owner. We talk about insecurities that she's overcome over the years, as well as the things she's proud of in her life. She gives great advice on whatever season of life you are in and invites you to live in your Jesus filled purpose. Hang out with Kait today to be encouraged!
INTERVIEW STYLE:
Maddie: “What led you to where you are now?”
Kaitlin: “Just a little background information. I have always been super artistic and independent … my personality is very outgoing—wants to be different, wants to do exciting, new unique things.”
1. Kaitlin had no idea what she wanted to go to college for and tried for music education but quickly realized that wasn’t what she wanted to do. So she went on the website for her soon-to-be college and picked a random major—marketing.
2. Marketing opened her mind to all of the possible jobs she could do and all of the opportunities that could present themselves.
3. Also while in College, God laid a big dream on her heart to own something that was for the Lord—whatever that may look like.
4. Went on to get a full time marketing job doing social media, but hit a burn out after eighteen months. Corporate environment was not for her.
5. While working this job she got her first camera from her mom and ran with the idea of a photography business—which she built by herself from the ground up and eventually left her corporate job.
6. She quickly realized that she loved serving people through photography and her business became a way for her to serve others and God at the same time.
2. Maddie: “What is one thing about yourself that you are really proud of?”
1. Kaitlin: “This one is really personal, but one thing I love about myself is my ability to love myself for who God created me to be”
1. As a child and teenager Kaitlin struggled a lot with her body image and over the years has learned to love herself for who God created her to be.
2. Through reading the bible more and working to know God, she learned to love herself because of who she is in Christ and not how she sees herself.
3. Because of this she is the best hype girl anyone could ask for and is very confident in herself—she knows exactly who she is.
. 3. Maddie: “What is one insecurity you have that you have worked through to feel confident?”
1. Kaitlin: “I am an enneagram two which means that I want to put myself last and put everybody else in front of me and just literally serve, serve, serve and basically people please—which is not a good attribute to have.”
1. Kaitlin explains that one of the biggest insecurities she has faced stems from the need to feel loved. For example, Kaitlin provides that she often feels like she needs to buy coffee for a friend in order to feel love from their reaction when she gives it to them.
2. She dealt with this for years and has worked through it for the last two or three years and finally feels like she isn’t insecure about that anymore.
3. But people pleasing is something that Kait has always struggled with because she needs to feel loved.
4. Her husband, shout out to Hunter, put things into perspective for her in college and told her to stand up for herself and not let people take advantage of her and that is something she still tells herself every-day.
5. And now she is way more confident and does not let people walk all over her.
4. Maddie: “What is one piece of advice you would give to our listeners”
1. Kaitlin: “No doubt—surrounded yourself with people who uplift and encourage you and your dreams.”
